History of Greenjeans
In the summer of 2003, I started considering the idea of starting my own business. During a study abroad trip to England, I developed a love for ornamental gardens. While studying English authors in London for several weeks, my attention was fully devoted to the gardens. Upon returning to the US, I was walking in my old neighborhood and was struck by the beauty of the ginkgo trees lining the streets. It was then that I officially decided that I was going to start my gardening business, and the ginkgo tree would be the perfect representation of my work. I even utilized a ginkgo leaf from our street to design Greenjean's first logo.
Initially, Greenjeans was primarily a garden maintenance company with a lot of weeding - which is still my favorite task in the garden. Within a few years, it slowly evolved into the actual implementation of my visions in the landscape.
My hard-working crew is my greatest resource, and they show up every summer to work hard for all our clients. This work is not for the faint of heart or body, and I take great pride in what we can accomplish as a team!
A Family Affair
In the early years of Greenjeans, there was lots of lunch breaks spent at my Grandfather Valentine's restaurant, Sip n Snack in Okemos. A entrepreneur in nature, he taught me a lot about hard work, serving your customer with integrity, and always doing the right thing.
